Computer Support And Consulting

The typical computer support specialist job involves providing technical assistance to people and organizations that require the use of information technology (IT). Generally, such technicians are categorized into two types: on-site IT support and remote IT support.

An on-site IT support technician is also commonly referred to as a PC support specialist. Such employees typically work within organizations where they are responsible for responding to computer-related inquiries from other workers. Often, they teach other workers to respond to specific problems. They also run diagnostic programs to point out where problems lie so that they may respond accordingly. In addition, such workers are expected to monitor the performance of their organization's computers and computer systems. Furthermore, they also often expected to handle the responsibilities of a network support technician by resolving technical issues related to Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, and other computer-related systems utilized by the organization.

On the other hand, remote IT support technicians are also referred to as computer help-desk support workers. They typically work as customer service agents who respond to telephone or email inquiries from customers with technical or computer problems. They are responsible for listening to customers' issues, asking pertinent questions to diagnose problems, and walking customers through the process of solving the issues at hand. Such workers are expected to understand the concepts involved in providing computer networking support and computer hardware support. Furthermore, they may also be responsible for installing, modifying, cleaning, and repairing computer hardware and software for their customers.
