When the HP Slate was first announced at CES 2010 it created quite a buzz in the tablet computer sector. It’s been almost 11 months now and we’ve only gotten a few glimpses of the potential iPad killer. There is no official launch date but several insiders have indicated that the Slate will be available before Christmas this year.
Why is There So Much Hype Around the HP Slate
The major reason the HP Slate is so hyped is that it will run the Windows 7 operating system giving it a huge advantage over products using the Android OS. The Slate will also have a USB expansion slot and dual facing cameras, two major advancements on the iPad.
Will the HP Slate Offer Wireless Packaging
Also interesting is that HP might offer 3G service under the “HP Broadband Wireless” along with the Slate launch. That would definitely put it on par with the Apple iPad and their built-in 3G offerings. The difference is their price: $549-$599,this is well under the $829 Apple charges for the 64-Gbyte, 3G iPad.
