In a recent article, “Hard Drive Defragmentation and Registry Cleaning”, we discussed the importance of electronic PC cleaning. The necessity of regular physical computer cleaning was mentioned, but the details were not given.

All computers have fans located within the PC’s case. These fans are there to provide air movement that helps in cooling the computer and its various components inside the case. As the fans move air into and out of the PC’s case, small particles of dust are also being moved within the computer’s case. This will eventually cause dust to accumulate inside the case. As the layers of dust thicken, they act like an insulating blanket, trapping heat against the delicate electronic components.

Computer components are sensitive to heat buildup. Excess heat can make PC components act erratically causing computer errors, lock-ups, blue-screen of death (BSOD) instances, re-boots or unexplained shutdowns. Indeed, heat is the number-one killer of electronic circuits in modern computer systems.
