Well, maybe not actually a flamethrower, but pretty darn snarky. It is both surprising and interesting to find out that a celebrity CEO like Jobs not only responds directly to some emails from the general public, but that he can be pretty snotty at times while doing it. In some ways, the unusual nature of such a practice is kind of refreshing; even when it is a bit crotchety.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs as Email Wise Guy

At Yahoo’s Buzz Log , Mike Krunboltz reveals “The Grouchy Side of Steve Jobs”. Krunboltz chronicles an exchange between Jobs and Long Island University student, Chelsea Kate Isaacs:

“‘Mr. Jobs, I humbly ask why Apple is so wonderfully attentive to the needs of students, whether it be with the latest, greatest invention or the company's helpful customer service line, and yet, ironically, the Media Relations Department fails to answer any of my questions which are, as I have repeatedly told them, essential to my academic performance.’

Jobs: ‘Our goals do not include helping you get a good grade. Sorry.’"

Wow! Impressively snarky, Mr. Jobs.

Isaacs didn’t let it go there, emailing again, explaining that she wasn’t looking for help with homework, simply a comment from the company. Jobs’ reply: "We have over 300 million users, and we can't respond to their requests unless they involve a problem of some kind. Sorry."
